You Had to Be There: Inside We Love Christian Music Awards – CCM Magazine

The 13th annual We Love Christian Music Awards lit up The Factory at Franklin in Franklin, TN with a night full of passion, power, and praise. Hosted by NewReleaseToday, this beloved fan-voted awards show brought together some of the very best in Christian music and CCM Magazine was honored to be in the middle of it all.
Legendary artist Jaci Velasquez hosted the evening, bringing her signature sparkle and shine to the stage. With grace, humor, and heart, Jaci guided the night with the same elegance and energy that made her a fan favorite.
Our own Libby O was on the red carpet capturing all the excitement, with stars like Kathie Lee GiffordDanica McKellar, and Logan and Amanda Sekulow (owners of CCM Magazine) in attendance to celebrate a genre that continues to grow in both creativity and impact. Look for red carpet video coverage coming to our CCM Magazine YouTube Channel soon.
And if you missed the action in person, don’t worry—the full show will be available to stream soon. But after what we experienced, trust us when we say: you’ll want to be there next year.
The night opened with a bang—literally—as Seventh Day Slumber tore through their powerful hit “My Novocain” before taking everyone back in time with a throwback performance of their 2005 breakout “Caroline.” The moment was both nostalgic and electric, proving that Christian rock is not only alive but thriving.
Skillet doubled down on their legacy, winning Rock/Alt Album of the Year for Revolution and Group of the Year. And with Michael Sweet of Stryper in the house (winning Collaboration of the Year alongside for KING & COUNTRY and Lecraefor “To Hell With The Devil”), it was clear: this year’s show celebrated the rockers and we were there for it.
If anyone stole the show, it was Terrian. Her live performance of “Honestly, We Just Need Jesus” was raw, moving, and an undeniable standout of the night. The performance earned her the prestigious Song of the Year, cementing her as one of the most compelling voices in Christian music today.
An unforgettable moment came when Christian music pioneer Steve Taylor received The Veritas Award, honoring his legacy of bold truth-telling through art. Taylor, never one to mince words, delivered a powerful and deeply resonant message in his acceptance speech:
“Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. There have been conspiracy theories trying to tell us that it didn’t happen, but we’re here because Jesus literally rose from the dead. And changed everything.”
Taylor’s words reminded the room why Christian music exists—not just to entertain, but to testify.
