The Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University Bloomington has announced the appointment of Itamar Zorman as associate professor of music in violin from 1 August 2025.
As an educator, Zorman has held visiting positions at the Eastman School of Music, Indiana University and McDuffy Center for Strings. He is a regular faculty member at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Heifetz Institute and Keshet Eilon and has taught master classes at the Royal Academy of Music, San Francisco Conservatory and Duke University.
’I am thrilled to be joining the faculty at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music!’ commented Zorman.
’This is a legendary school, where some of my own mentors have worked— most recently, professor Mauricio Fuks, whom I will be quoting often in lessons with the excellent students at IU. I have appreciated the nice atmosphere in Bloomington, and warm welcome from the wonderful faculty.
’I am looking forward to collaborating with them and starting this new chapter at IU this August!’

’He is a wonderful musician and teacher, and we look forward to all he will bring to our students and community.’
Zorman won the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition, and received an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2013 and Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award in 2014.
He has performed worldwide as a soloist with orchestras Israel Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra and New World Symphony with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Michael Tilson-Thomas and Karina Canellakis.
Zorman has collaborated with artists including Mitsuko Uchida, Richard Goode and Steven Isserlis, among others.
He plays on a 1734 Guarneri del Gesù violin from the collection of Yehuda Zisapel.
