A local musician will be bringing her talents back home as Stratford native Hannah Thomas, known for her riverside concerts in the summer, has a different kind of gig lined up.
“I am so excited for that show. I was really excited when I got contacted by Stratford Summer Music,” Thomas said. “ I think it's going to be a great show. I've got a good lineup of songs and the guests who are performing as well.”
Thomas and Friends will be bringing their act to the Jobsite Brewing Co. stage on May 4. Joining Thomas on stage will be John Yant, who sings soulful rock, as well as York Street Thought Process, an indie folk group.
The show will take place starting at 2 p.m. and will last roughly 90 minutes with a brief intermission. Jobsite Brewing Co. is located at 45 Cambria Street, and tickets can be purchased on the Stratford Summer Music website. For Thomas, playing at a hometown venue is extra special.
“I've lived in a house on the Avon River my whole life and I just started getting into singing in elementary school and high school, and I started doing plays, and then I realized that I love singing,” she said. “From there, I entered competitions and shows and everything that I could, because I just loved it so much, and I kind of shifted my focus from acting to pop country and contemporary music. I've been singing since I was little, and I'm still singing today, and I absolutely love it.”
Thomas is inspired by the amazing Canadian sensation Celine Dion, as well as British artist Calum Scott. She says she's been performing in front of an audience for so long it's almost second nature.
“I think when I first started, I was always a little bit nervous,” Thomas said. “But now I just think of it, as I'm doing something I love in front of a bunch of people who are happy to be here, and I don't even get nervous anymore, it's just pure excitement.”
