Primavera Sound, and the Primavera Pro industry conference running alongside it, are once more backing local talent at this year’s festival in Barcelona, Spain, June 2-8.
Primavera Sound will offer a stage to Catalan talent, including established acts like Amaia, and John Talabot.
The program also features projects that cross territories and scenes: from the synth-punk of Dame Area to the emotional indie of Heal, and psychedelic pop from the two voices of Red Stamp; From Belén Natalí’s love of Jamaican sounds, who defies any algorithm that tries to define her to Ciutat, the duo formed by JP Sunshine and Guim.
There’s more according to the program: “the arcade-punk of sistema de entretenimiento, the unfiltered punk humour of Tetas Frías and the ultra-digital and provocative pop of Llum.
They are joined by Huir, “the two-headed monster formed by Ana of the Head and David Solazo,” and Maig, who “leads the new wave of R&B in Catalan”, and, La Casa Azul, “more pop than pop itself, a modern classic that transforms each concert into a shared celebration.”
“And this is just a sample of the Catalan musical proposals that will claim their place in the programme of the festival, which will soon add new stages that will focus on the soundtrack of Catalonia,” the press release states.
The stage at the Primavera Pro conference, which kicks off June 4 at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), is supported by Catalan Arts, and aimed at the region’s emerging artists, such as GUINEU, okdw, Remei de Ca la Fresca, and xicu.
