Indie alt-rock act Neither Do I has shared his debut album We’re Not Known For Anything. Singer-songwriter Danny Ebdale is the driving force behind the record, known for his band Hospital Sports and solo project April’s Fool.

We’re Not Known For Anything was recorded by Martin Philips (REPAIRS) at Auckland’s The Vault between March 2023 and April 2024, and mastered by Jonathan Pearce (The Beths).

Neither Do I meticulously crafted the album across almost four years, exploring the more intimate and personal side of his writing, with a new focus on subtlety and nuance.

With new milestones such as pressing music onto vinyl, Ebdale is performing an album release gig on Saturday, May 31st at NiceGoblins HQ.

Neither Do I shared three singles prior to today’s record debut. ‘Ghost Machine’ was highly recommended by UK site The Other Side Reviews, who said the track “breathes life into 90s pop-rock with contemporary indie-rock sentimentalities shimmering in the melody“.

The strings-led ‘Lull’ was animated by queer film maker and photographer Courtney Rodgers (Jazmine Mary). Ebdale’s latest single, ‘Recollection’, was playlisted by Radio BurgerFuel, and featured as 13th Floor’s Song of the Day. An upcoming interview and performance with 13th Floor host Marty Duda is coming soon.

Today also comes with an animated video for album opener ‘King For a Day’.

Neither Do I finds that line between alternative rock, indie pop, and pop-rock, then blurs it into a kaleidoscopic swirl of sound.” — Nicole Mendes The Other Side Reviews

We’re Not Known for Anything is out now on major streaming platforms. Pre-order the vinyl LP now.
