Maroon 5 'Reconnecting To Our Roots' In 'PRICELESS' Collab With LISA – Z100 Portland

Maroon 5 are back with a "priceless" new collaboration with LISA.
The band joined forces with the BLACKPINK standout for their new single "PRICELESS," dropping both the song and a thrilling music video directed by Aerin Moreno on Friday (May 2). The track is the first glimpse at Maroon 5’s upcoming eighth studio album, a follow-up to 2021’s Jordi.
In a statement, frontman Adam Levine said the new "guitar-based" single is unlike any the band has recorded in a long time and is a return to their roots while still exploring a new sound. Maroon 5 first made waves with their highly acclaimed 2002 debut album Songs About Jane, which features hits like "She Will Be Loved," "Harder to Breathe" and "This Love." He also noted how the K-pop phenom was a great addition to the song.
"I think it’s just the purest and we are so happy to have LISA on it. The guitar intro is literally me playing into an audio message on my iPhone with an unplugged guitar," he said. "I actually got a little emotional recording ‚cause it was sort of reconnecting to our roots, which a lot of fans have been saying ‚hey we want to hear that sound again.‘ It’s been over 20 years so I think it’s time for that to return."
Guitarist James Valentine agreed that Levine’s first demo was reminiscent of Maroon 5’s older sound, from the sound to the "overall vibe."
"I got super emotional when Adam sent me the original demo of ‚PRICELESS‘ because for me the sound represents Maroon 5’s earlier days," he said, adding that it influenced the tone of the rest of the album. "I was super stoked on it and it established the writing and sound for our upcoming album."
