Boonsboro will host its annual Swap and Recycling Event on Saturday, May 10. According to a community announcement, the event will take place at Shafer Park, 241 Potomac St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend this free event, which will occur rain or shine.
Residents are encouraged to bring recyclables and swap items to the drive-through drop-off area in the Community Center parking lot. Volunteers will be available to assist with unloading vehicles.
Ample parking will be provided, including a lot off Stouffer Avenue behind Alex’s gas station for those wishing to browse the swaps.
Singer-songwriter Tony M. Music will perform using a solar-powered sound system, provided by Mike Sokol of RVelectricity.
Horizon Goodwill and ReStore of Hagerstown will collect usable donated items. Spichers Appliance & Electronics of Hagerstown will have a truck on site for unusable TVs and electronics, which will be taken to the landfill for recycling. Appliances containing Freon will not be accepted and should be taken to the Washington County Landfill for proper disposal.
Items accepted include clothing, shoes, furniture, household goods, plants, eyeglasses and cases, scrap metal, electronics, bicycles and more.
A Plant Swap area will feature a native tree give-away and native pollinator plants. The Boonsboro Police Department will collect medications for safe disposal, while the Boonsboro Lions Club will gather eyeglasses and cases.
A Free Zone stocked with usable items will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Clothing for the swap can be dropped off in Pavilion No. 1 on Friday, May 9, from 3 to 6 p.m.
