(May 20, 2025) — Billboard chart-topping and best-selling vocalist Deborah Silver has done it again debuting at #1 on the Current Traditional Jazz Album Sales chart and #12 on Billboard’s Traditional Jazz Albums chart with her brand new album Basie Rocks! (Green Hill Productions) featuring the legendary Count Basie Orchestra making Basie Rocks! the highest debut for this week’s Billboard Traditional Jazz chart.
“I’m beyond grateful for the incredible response my new album Basie Rocks! has received so far,” says Silver. “Debuting at #1 on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart—alongside artists like Michael Bublé, Laufey, and Lady Gaga—is an unbelievable honor and a true testament to the heart and soul poured into this album by so many. I share this moment with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra, directed by Scotty Barnhart (co-producer), my producer Steve Jordan, the dedicated team at Green Hill Productions, and all the masterful musicians and contributors who helped me bring this vision to life. Most of all, a huge thank-you, filled with sincere gratitude, to all the extraordinary fans who have stuck with me through the years—your love and support have meant everything to me. This one’s for you!”
Green Hill Music General Manager, Blake Davis offers, “We’re incredibly proud to see Deborah Silver’s album with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra reach No. 1 on the Traditional Jazz charts. This milestone is a celebration of timeless talent, impeccable musicianship, and the enduring legacy of big band jazz. Deborah’s voice and persona, paired with the iconic sound of the Count Basie Orchestra, have created something truly special. The featured guests are top-notch, and the reimagining of these classic songs is something sure to appeal to fans of all genres of music. Green Hill is honored to be part of this historic moment and grateful to the fans and jazz community for their unwavering support.”
Throughout Basie Rocks!, Silver triumphantly bridges the worlds of rock and jazz and seamlessly swings classics with some of the biggest and most respected names in music today. From her collaboration with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Peter Frampton on “Baby, I Love Your Way” to her fiery take on The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black” featuring 10-time GRAMMY®-winning Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, along with Pedrito Martínez on percussion, Basie Rocks! offers something for everyone to enjoy.
Produced by Steve Jordan of the Rolling Stones, Basie Rocks! fittingly and stylishly honors the legendary Count Basie Orchestra’s 90th anniversary. Founded by legendary pianist and bandleader William James “Count” Basie, the Count Basie Orchestra has remained one of jazz’s most influential big bands while performing for royalty and gracing major jazz festivals and concert halls worldwide.
Additional special guests on the album include, GRAMMY®-winning guitarist Bill Frisell, New Orleans legend Trombone Shorty, GRAMMY®-winning jazz vocalist Kurt Elling, and saxophonist and NEA Jazz Master George Coleman.
A dynamic and versatile performer, Silver has earned widespread acclaim, with past releases reaching #1 on the Billboard Traditional Jazz Albums Chart, #1 on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums Chart, and #1 on the Nielsen Traditional Jazz Chart. The legendary Quincy Jones once raved, “Whatever she sings, she owns, making every note matter! One listen and you know… Deborah Silver is the real deal.”
