Cassie settled her civil case against Sean ‚Diddy‘ Combs for $20 million (£15 million).
In the final moments of her testimony at the federal trial of the music mogul on Wednesday, the singer, real name Casandra Ventura, confirmed the exact amount Combs and his businesses had paid her after she filed the lawsuit against him in November 2023.
Taking to the stand, Ventura clarified she had received a $20 million payment from the 55-year-old.
In the civil lawsuit, the entertainer alleged Combs subjected her to a „cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking“ over the course of their 11-year relationship.
One day after the case was filed, both parties announced they had reached an agreement and made an out-of-court settlement.
Though Combs’s lawyer disclosed the payment was a „substantial eight-figure settlement“ at the time, they didn’t offer any further details on the terms.
The I’ll Be Missing You star also issued a video apology to Ventura in which he acknowledged an incident captured on CCTV showing him physically attacking her in a hotel hallway back in March 2016.
Soon after the civil case was settled, Combs was hit with a number of lawsuits in which claimants accused him of sexual assault and abuse, with the alleged incidents taking place between 1991 and 2009.
Following a federal criminal investigation, Combs was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. He pleaded not guilty.
Elsewhere in her testimony on Wednesday, Ventura broke down in tears after she alleged Combs raped her in her living room after she met him for a cordial dinner to find „closure“ in 2018.
„I remember crying, saying no, but it was very fast,“ she stated.
Ventura, who is expecting her third child with husband Alex Fine, went on to discuss exactly why she decided to testify against Combs in the federal trial.
„I’m here to do the right thing. I can’t carry this anymore… the shame, the guilt,“ the 38-year-old added.
The trial continues.
