The nominees for the 2025 American Music Awards have been revealed, and it’s good news once more for Kendrick Lamar as his stellar year continues with an artist-leading 10 nominations, ahead of Post Malone who has eight, and Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey, who all received seven AMA nominations respectively.
Lamar, who earlier this year performed at the Super Bow Halftime Show, saw his album GNX debut at No. 1 on the Billboard chart and dominate pop culture when he bested Drake in a rap feud, received nominations for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, collaboration of the year, favorite music video, favorite male hip-hop artist, favorite hip-hop album and three separate nods in the favorite hip-hop song.
Post Malone, coming off the back of an acclaimed headlining set at Coachella, received nominations for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, collaboration of the year (two nominations), favorite male country artist, favorite country album and favorite country song.
Billie Eilish, who dropped her highly anticipated third album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT and embarked on a sold-out global tour this year, received nominations for artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, favorite touring artist, favorite female pop artist, favorite pop album and favorite pop song.
Chappell Roan, who dominated the music world and also became a pop culture phenomenon and queer icon over the last year, received seven nominations in categories including artist of the year, new artist of the year, album of the year, song of the year, social song of the year, favorite female pop artist and favorite pop album.
Like Lamar, rapper and country artist Shaboozey’s seven AMA noms caps off a banner 12 months, which saw him grab five Grammy nominations, his song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” go No. 1 on the Billboard chart and his album, Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, go gold in the U.S. Shaboozey is nominated for new artist of the year, song of the year, social song of the year, favorite music video, favorite male country artist, favorite country album and favorite country song.
Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA and Taylor Swift make up a group of artists with six nominations.
The winners of the AMAs are voted entirely by fans. The organization says that nominees are based on key fan interactions — as reflected on the Billboard charts — including streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and tour grosses. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and Luminate, the entertainment industry’s most trusted data partner, and cover the data tracking eligibility period of March 22, 2024 through March 20, 2025.
The fan voting period is now open via VoteAMAs.com and the @AMAs Instagram profile in all award categories. Voting closes on Thursday, May 15 at 11:59:59pm PT, except for collaboration of the year and social song of the year categories, which will remain open through the first 30 minutes of the AMAs broadcast.
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the 51st annual American Music Awards will air live from Las Vegas on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26 on the CBS Television Network, and stream on Paramount+ in the U.S. at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT.
The American Music Awards were created by Dick Clark Productions. DCP is owned by Penske Media Corporation, The Hollywood Reporter’s parent company, in a subsidiary joint venture between Penske Media and Eldridge.
