HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – One of the hottest competitions Hawaii has to offer is returning to Laie.
Dancers from across the globe will converge on the Polynesian Cultural Center in May for the 32nd Annual World Fireknife Championships.
Festivities kick-off May 7th with Junior and Intermediate competition.
May 13 is the qualifying round for the Men’s Division.
May 14 is the the Men’s Preliminaries (Top 20) and the Women’s Division.
May 15 will be the Men’s Finals.
In addition to competitors from Hawaii and across the United States, other countries being represented include Samoa, Tahiti, The Cook Islands, New Zealand, Australia and Japan.

The singeing spectacle will accompanied by the ‘We Are Samoa High School Arts Festival’ which is already sold out.
Students from across Oahu and the King’s Siva Academy in Australia will host workshops and presentations, demonstrating their knowledge of Samoan culture. This will include protocol and speech making, basket weaving, coconut husking and fire making, costuming, singing and dancing.
