Unlock better music discovery: Spotify’s new features for playlists, personalization & control – RouteNote

Spotify is rolling out new features designed to improve how users discover and manage their music listening experience. Spotify emphasizes its commitment to making music discovery smoother, smarter, and more enjoyable, with its latest features helping you to fine tune your music listening.
These updates include enhancements to the Now Playing view, smarter playlist customization options, and a new approach to managing tracks in your recommendations. Let’s break down what’s new.
Spotify is testing and rolling out tools to make daily listening easier and more customizable:
Users can now access controls like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer more easily in the Now Playing tab. Premium listeners will also see Spotify-recommended tracks after their current queue- offering an effortless way to keep the music flowing or discover something new.
Don’t fancy recommended tracks after your queue? You can easily turn Autoplay and Smart Shuffle off in settings if you’d prefer to stick with your own tracks.
Spotify has updated its Hide button. Now, clicking Hide will hide a song across all devices- ensuring it won’t appear again in that playlist.
If you’d prefer a temporary break from a track, Spotify’s new Snooze feature allows users to mute a track from their recommendations for 30 days. It’s perfect for taking a short break from an overplayed hit without removing it completely from your rotation.
This feature is currently being tested with Premium users, with Spotify planning to expand its rollout soon.
Customizing playlists on mobile is now quicker and more intuitive:
A new top-bar menu in playlists offers faster access to Add, Sort, and Edit tools. You can now change your playlist’s title, artwork, and song order more seamlessly.
Spotify now lets you use your liked tracks to build playlists. Simply filter your liked songs by genre and instantly “turn into a playlist” with one tap. This feature is available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK, and the US.
Spotify has also made it more intuitive to create and collaborate on playlists:
Found in the bottom-right of the mobile app, the Create button “+” allows users to easily start a new playlist, collaborate a playlist, or join a Blend.
Premium users in supported markets can now more easily explore AI playlists and Jam sessions via the same Create menu.
“Your Library” has been subtly repositioned as the third icon at the bottom of the mobile app.
For artists and industry professionals, these changes provide fresh opportunities to connect with fans through organic discovery. These changes give users more control in shaping their listening habits, which impacts how music spreads, gets discovered, and stays in rotation.
With these latest updates, Spotify is not only enhancing music discovery for listeners but also for artists’ music to reach new ears.
