A trio of musicians will bring experimental energy and groove to their first concert in Nanaimo. Ultraviolet will play at the Vault Café on Thursday, May 1, with Rare Earth Magnet as an opening act.
A news release from Ultraviolet said the band takes inspiration from across the world to create genre-defying music.
Both bands were mainstage acts at Vancouver Island’s Filberg Festival last year, which led to them meeting and planning for Ultraviolet to come to Nanaimo for a show together.
Ultraviolet is based on the Comox Valley and is guitarist Oscar Robles Diaz, bassist Brittany Christina Bowman and drummer Beau Stocker.
“These three come from different backgrounds, both geographically and musically speaking, and their combined touring curriculum boasts performance experience in Latin America, Asia, the United Kingdom, Europe and Canada,” the news release said.
The all-ages show will start at 8:15 p.m. There will be a $15 cover charge.
