The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 across the BBC – BBC

In its 69th year, Eurovision is heading home, as the world’s greatest singing competition returns to Switzerland, hosts of the very first contest back in 1956
May is officially Eurovision month! To mark the annual return of the Eurovision Song Contest – the world’s biggest music competition – the BBC are serving up a fiesta of Eurovision delights across TV, radio and online to bring the nation together for a month of Euro-love and to cheer on the UK act, Remember Monday.
In its 69th year, Eurovision is heading home, as the world’s greatest singing competition returns to Switzerland, hosts of the very first contest back in 1956. Eurovision will return to the land of cheese, chocolate and dramatic vistas as the Swiss once again welcome audiences from across the globe – and 37 competing countries – to the beautiful city of Basel to see who can follow in Nemo’s footsteps and be crowned the new Eurovision Song Contest 2025 champion.
Audiences can marvel at all Eurovision has to offer as the contest will be broadcast live across BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
Ahead of the Eurovision Grand Final (Saturday 17 May), where 26 countries will perform to be crowned the new Eurovision 2025 champion, there are two live Semi-Finals (Tuesday 13 May and Thursday 15th May) for Eurovision fans to review all 37 countries competing in the Eurovision Song Contest. The top ten countries from each Semi-Final will make it through to Saturday’s Grand Final. In Thursday’s Semi Final 2, viewers will also be treated to the first performance on the Eurovision stage from the UK representatives, Remember Monday, singing their entry song ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’. UK audiences can also vote for their favourites in this Semi-Final.
As one of the Big Five countries (United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, France, Italy), the United Kingdom has a guaranteed place in Saturday’s Grand Final, but Remember Monday will still perform for Europe as part of Semi-Final 2. Switzerland is also guaranteed a place in the Grand Final due to them being hosts this year.
The Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Finals and Grand Final continue to be amongst the most popular Entertainment programmes on the BBC, with the Grand Final in 2024 reaching an average audience of 7.9 million people in the UK.
Eurovision is also one of the most popular Entertainment programmes for younger audiences on the BBC, with 1.3 million 16-34 year olds tuning in for the Grand Final last year.
This Eurovision will be the most accessible yet for our audiences with live Audio description and live signing available on BBC iPlayer and the Red Button.
BBC Interim Director of Unscripted, Syeda Irtizaali, says: “The BBC is the home of Eurovision in the UK and 2025 is set to continue that trend as we celebrate the contest on all our platforms, from TV, radio and online. We have Scott Mills’ Radio 2 Breakfast show coming to audiences live every morning from the Eurovision host city, Basel, for a week; A show stopping exclusive performance from the UK’s act, Remember Monday, on The One Show; A Doctor Who x Eurovision crossover and a one-off special on BBC One and iPlayer, When Graham Met Remember Monday. We really are pulling out all the stops this year to surprise and delight audiences with all things Eurovision. So, get in the party mood as the BBC’s Eurovision content offering this year is not to be missed this May!”
On Saturday 17 May or Super Saturday the BBC brings the nation together for a night of epic TV watching. Audiences can enjoy the crème de la crème of television, starting with a Eurovision special episode of Doctor Who (The Interstellar Song Contest) which will hit screens just before the Eurovision Grand Final itself. Whether you’re organising a Eurovision party with friends, or at home with the family, it is set to be a night to remember as the BBC brings people together to cheer on Remember Monday at the Eurovision 2025.

Scott and Rylan will be hosting the Semi-Finals on BBC TV and BBC iPlayer.
The whole station will be building up the excitement, including The Scott Mills Breakfast Show broadcasting live from Basel from Monday to Friday in the week leading up to the Grand Final, whilst Richie Anderson will be out and about around the city all week getting a taste of what Switzerland has to offer.

Tune in on Radio 2 and BBC Sounds and celebrate the contest and all things Basel with us through the whole week, from the big build up to the Semi-Finals, Grand Final and beyond!”
Scott says: “I cannot wait to be back in the commentary booth with Rylan, who will no doubt have perfected every dance routine for all 37 countries. We’ll be cheering on Remember Monday… who I’ve already agreed to get matching tattoos with if they get into the Top 5! And I’m so excited to be taking my Breakfast Show international as we broadcast from the heart of the contest in Basel for the whole week. Eurovision is a true celebration of diversity and I love sharing that with everyone – to do that for the first time on the UK’s biggest Breakfast Show is a dream!”
Rylan says: “Basel, I’m coming for you! It’s my favourite time of year and I can’t wait to be reunited with my Eurovision husband, Scott Mills, in the commentary booth! We’ll be cheering loudly for our girls Remember Monday! I know they’ve been told to avoid a night out with me, but I think I can persuade Richie and Sara Cox to join me at EuroClub instead…”
Sara says: “So excited to be in Basel and throw myself back into the crazy, rainbow hued feel-good fest that is Eurovision.“
Richie says: “I am delighted to be commentating on the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Finals on Radio 2 again this year, and so happy I’ll be joined by Semi-Final commentating royalty, Sara Cox. This is my second year in the booth and, before my debut in Malmö last year, I actually listened back to Sara’s previous commentary from the archives, so it’s wild I’m now commentating alongside her! This is my fourth time at Eurovision, but I’ve loved it my whole life. After watching Gina G perform at my Auntie Jackie’s house back in 1996, I was hooked. For me, it’s the perfect mix of escapism and fun and I can’t wait to share that with our Radio 2 listeners.”
