Several singing classes are offered plus instruction in visual art (drawing, painting, sculpture, fiber arts, handcrafted instruments, photography, architectural design, and animation), theater (acting, costumes and sets, scriptwriting and Shakespeare), storytelling, poetry slam, intro to film, yoga, and several styles of dance. Additional music classes include music theory, songwriting, GarageBand, drum circle, instrument repair, making a music video, mallet madness, and humor and music. Music performance opportunities include orchestra, jazz band, show choir, handbells, a cappella choir, wind ensemble, rock band, and “strings, rock and rosin.” Course descriptions are available at www.wcsms.org.
The wide range of classes enables beginners as well as advanced musicians and artists to develop and hone their skills in a nurturing and collaborative environment, taught by a faculty of 20.
Through the support of The Pennsylvania Council of the Arts, Community Foundation of Warren County, the Kay Hardesty Logan Foundation, The Philomel and private gifts, the school is able to offer these three weeks of hands-on instruction for the discounted tuition of $150 total for three weeks of five daily classes. Tuition assistance is available for those in need.
Register online at www.wcsms.org. Class size is limited, therefore students are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. Bus stops are provided throughout the county.
