Stunning Greater Manchester spot to welcome thousands for one-of-a-kind music festival – Manchester Evening News

Tucked away on the edge of Stockport sits Etherow Country Park- one of Greater Manchester's most picturesque spots.
Boasting more than 200 acres of green space, visitors flock there for its unspoilt woodland and lakes. Lying in the Etherow-Goyt Valley, its most spectacular features are the impressive waterfall and the Keg Pool – the latter originally built as a fishing lake.
It is by this beautiful waterfall that Whitebottom Farm sits. The site, which recently its bar 'Beers at the Weir', has become known for numerous music events – notably Moovin Festival held on the August Bank Holiday weekend.
And this July it will also be welcoming back Craic by the Creek for 2025 – a celebration of Irish music, culture and community. Drawing in over 3,000 festival goers each year it is the UK's leading Irish and Country music festival.
Taking place between 18-20 July at the farm and countryside village of Compstall, the camping festival spans Irish music, food and drink stalls, a craft market and a range of activities including dance lessons.
Launched in 2020 by three second-generation Irish musicians, Craic by the Creek was created to support the Irish music community during the pandemic and to offer younger generations of the Irish diaspora a space to reconnect with their heritage.
Commenting on its return, Matt Kelly, one of the festival’s founders, said: "It’s like St. Patrick’s Day in the sunshine – non-stop music, great craic, and the perfect setting to reunite with old friends and make new ones over a pint and a dance.
"Because, let’s be honest, a cold pint of Guinness just hits different in the summer sun.
“We’re proud to host some of the finest talent in Irish and Country music. Artists love the location, but what keeps them coming back is the unbeatable atmosphere.”
This year’s lineup is brimming with talent too, and will be headlined by Boyzlife – the Irish supergroup featuring Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy.
Meanwhile, festival favourites including Derek Ryan, All Folk’d Up, The Tumbling Paddies, Mom & The Rebels, and 30 more acts will take over Whitebottom Farm for a summer knees-up.
2025 will represent the festival's fifth instalment and tickets for the event are now on sale via Skiddle.
The festival also offers camping options, but a specific camping ticket will need to be purchased to stay on site.
There are also glamping options with Bell tent or Tuareg tents, which come in configurations of 4,6 or 8 people.
Craic by the Creek takes place at Whitebottom farm, Etherow country park, Compstall, Stockport, SK6 5JQ.
