The 57th Annual Stettler and District Music Festival is in the books.
According to organizers, the event, which ran from April 12-17, went „phenomenal.“
„It was so great,“ said Marci Spady, the president of the music festival.
The annual music festival featured 570 participants in 158 separate entries, all concluding in a grand concert which took place at the Stettler Performing Arts Centre on April 27.
„The Grand Concert went great,“ said Spady.
As part of the festival, and thanks to community support, nearly $5,000 in scholarships were awarded to youth taking part.
The Stettler and District Music Festival is under the umbrella of Alberta Music Festivals, and 17 youth performing in Stettler were recommended by adjudicators to take part in provincial competition.
Those performing in the Grand Concert either received the highest mark in their class or the adjudicator’s choice.
As usual, the Stettler and District Music Festival celebrated an individual from the community who goes above and beyond to support fine arts in the community through its Award of Excellence. The 2025 winner was Evelyn McCourt.
„She’s very, very deserving,“ said Spady.
The music festival was split between St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Performing Arts Centre, with festival offices located at both locations.
Spady, who just finished her third year as president, says that the festival is looking to expand in 2026 and is looking for board members.
Those with an interest in the fine arts and who are willing to help out are asked to contact the music festival at stmusicfestival@gmail.com.
