Scots singer Shirely Manson says fellow female rockers selling pix on Only Fans is "tragic" for music – Daily Record

Garbage singer Shirley Manson has slammed the need for female music stars like Lily Allen and Kate Nash to use OnlyFans to fund their tours.
The Edinburgh-born singer admits it’s getting harder to break even on tour and said her peers’ decision to pose online was “tragic” from an industry standpoint.
Shirley, 58, said: “Have you caught any of the Lily Allen and Kate Nash story about selling photos? In Lily’s case, it’s of her feet. And Kate’s, it’s her a**e on OnlyFans.” I’m sure there’s another female artist putting photos up on OnlyFans with her t*ts.
“It is punk and why not? But at the same time, the idea that artists are being driven to do stuff like that, in order to keep doing what it is that they really love, I think is really not right.
“I don’t think it’s sad from a personal standpoint. It’s tragic from an industry standpoint. I don’t think she’s enjoying trying to make extra money. I think she’s doing it to make extra money so she can pay for a tour bus, so she can actually travel from gig to gig in comfort.

“I am not judging Kate or Lily for her feet either. I think they’re being smart and they’ve figured out they can make money.”
Shirley says that even playing Wembley didn’t bring proper financial gains.
Shirley, who is now looking forward to the release of Garbage’s new album Let All That We Imagine Be The Light on May 30, told Talkhouse podcast: “Travel expenses have tripled. The travel alone in a bl***y Transit van from Edinburgh to London.
We just played Europe in the summer culminating in a show at Wembley Arena, which we thought was like, yeah, great. And we broke even. It’s unbelievable.”
“I won’t name names but a really good friend of ours went and played all over Europe with his super-successful, beloved, iconic rock bands and didn’t make any money.”
