Scorcher has offered a rare comment on his beef with Wretch 32.
The two rappers came of age in North London, and formed seminal grime group The Movement while barely out of their teens. A formidable partnership, Wretch 32 went on to gain chart success as a solo star, before moving into a more mature, conscious-focussed rap vein.
New album ‘HOME?’ is out now, and Wretch 32 agreed to appear on the Zeze Millz Show to discuss the record. One topic could not be ignored, however – Scorcher.
The online narrative holds that Wretch 32 began a relationship with Scorcher’s long-term partner while his fellow MC was in prison – references to the situation flooded his mentions across social media.

Asked if he was aware of this, Wretch 32 chose his words carefully, saying: “Just because something is entertaining doesn’t mean it’s entertainment… it’s real people’s business.”
“Within that, what I will say on the topic is – no one took no one’s partner when no one was in jail… not that the situation was ideal, but in the court of the body, sometimes the heart overrules the head. The heart overrules the head. You won’t understand that until it’s your heart.”
Wretch 32 said he “did not take it personal” before reiterating “it’s been 10 years… we’ve been together ever since.”

Scorcher has seemingly watched the clip, and has posted a voice note respond on social media. Shared by fans, he says: “I’ve been silent on a few things but I’m gonna talk my mind quickly.”
“Number one, a snake rap weasel could never trick me out of my spot. I’ve earned it, I’ve earned it. Me, against… I don’t know what and who.”
“Number two, a punk could never use me – never use me – to sell his mix CD cos there ain’t no gas in the car no more. That’s your business. That’s your bed go lie in it.”
“And thirdly, do you know what else? There’s only one me. And that ain’t you. I don’t care what you’ve got going on, I don’t care what good things you’ve got going on in your life. There’s only one me, and it ain’t you.”
