„You were talking about being short, so I thought I’d stop by“
Sabrina Carpenter made a surprise cameo in Quinta Brunson’s Saturday Night Live musical monologue – watch the moment below.
The creator and star of Abbott Elementary hosted ‘SNL’ for the second time last night (May 2), and delivered her opening monologue in the form of a song that touched on the joys of being short.
“Shorties, tonight, this one’s for us,” Brunson, who stands at 4’11”, said as dancers surrounded her while she extolled the benefits of getting drunk from “one glass of wine” and wearing crop tops as dresses.
Her next verse saw her shout out some of the entertainment world’s shortest stars, including Simone Biles, Kendrick Lamar and Tom Holland, before the camera panned over to reveal Carpenter, who said: “You were talking about being short, so I thought I’d stop by.”
The Grammy winner went on to joke about their shared experiences being short, quipping: “When you read short stories, do they feel like novels?”
SNL cast member Marcello Hernandez then joined the two on stage, where he poked fun at their height, saying being stood next to them made him look “super tall”.
“Come on, Marcello, you should be proud of being short,” the ‘Espresso‘ hitmaker said, before former NBA champion Dwyane Wade walked on to the stage. “Dwyane, sorry, what are you doing here?” Brunson asked, to which Wade responded, “Well, I was just in the audience watching SNL, and I heard your song about being short, and I felt seen.”

“But, you’re tall, you’re 6’4″,” Brunson noted. “Yeah, but I’m 6’4″, and in basketball world, it’s like 4’10″, Shaq’s like 7’1″, and I just really want to be in the song,” he responded.
Carpenter and Brunson then continued the celebrity shoutouts with a reference to The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White, ending the number by agreeing that life is “just more fun when you’re fun-sized.”
Elsewhere in last night’s show, Benson Boone performed ‘Mystical Magical’ and ‘Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else’, both taken from his upcoming album, ‘American Heart’.
Meanwhile, in other Sabrina Carpenter news, the pop singer recently wrapped up the European leg of her world tour but will be back in the UK this summer for two gigs at London’s Hyde Park as part of the BST festival series. Clairo will support her at both gigs, with Beabadoobee set to play on July 5 and Olivia Dean supporting on July 6. More artists will be added to the lineup in the coming weeks, and tickets are on sale now.
