“Primal” is a sound journey back to our common unconscious. Crys L’s architectural approach to sound design and DJ Kaine’s superb percussion work are combined in this project to create a hypnotic mix that controls both the body and the mind.
As the show goes on, it feels like a modernized version of a tribal ritual. Bass frequencies dig deeper, echoing in people’s chest cavities in a way that feels almost real. These base elements support complexly layered percussion patterns that sound like they are talking to each other in old rhythmic languages.
