Welcome back to Music On Mondays. Each week, we’re sharing new songs, rising artists, and the stories that make them special. Whether it’s a brand-new release or a track that hits you right in the heart, this is where we highlight music you’ll want to hear. Let’s start the week off with something great.
Memphis-based singer-songwriter Mary Hatley just released her new single “Ricochet.” Recorded at Easley McCain and Court Square Studios with collaborators Matthew Wilson, Danny Banks, Noah Nelson, Pablo Pellerin, Jon Gaines, Jeremy Horn, Spencer Bailey, and Matt Qualls, the track is a deeply personal reflection on a pivotal moment in Mary’s life.
“‘Ricochet’ is a very personal song that I wrote when I was 19”, says Hatley. This song captures the time when I was between graduating from high school and deciding to pursue a career in music instead of going to college.”
Karissa Ella has released her brand-new single, “Mamas Do,” just in time for Mother’s Day, a touching tribute that beautifully captures the unconditional love only a mother can give. With her signature angelic vocals and emotionally rich lyrics, Karissa delivers a song that resonates deeply, inspiring listeners to reflect on the support systems that have quietly carried them through life’s ups and downs.
“‘Mamas Do’ came from that moment we all face, when we know we might be making a mistake, but we need to find out for ourselves,” says Ella. “It’s a love letter to the one person who never says, ‚I told you so,‘ even when she could. My mama has always been my safe place to land, and this song reflects that kind of quiet, unconditional love. Sometimes growing up means falling down, but knowing someone’s there to catch you makes all the difference.”
A rising voice in country music, Karissa continues to impress with her ability to fuse modern storytelling with traditional roots. “Mamas Do” marks another heartfelt chapter in her journey, a personal reflection and a universal anthem for anyone who’s ever leaned on the steady grace of a mother’s love.
Tayla Lynn unveils her latest single, “Out Of My Head And Back In My Bed,” from her upcoming album Singin’ Loretta—a heartfelt tribute to her legendary grandmother, Loretta Lynn. With a voice full of soul and sincerity, Tayla breathes new life into the classic hit, capturing the emotional depth and storytelling spirit that defined Loretta’s iconic career. It’s a powerful performance that honors the past while adding her own unmistakable touch.
Singin’ Loretta marks Tayla’s second full-length solo album and features a carefully curated collection of songs that celebrate the grit, grace, and brilliance of Loretta Lynn’s music. In addition to “Out Of My Head And Back In My Bed,” the album includes fan favorites like “Rated ‘X’,” “Blue Kentucky Girl,” “One’s On the Way,” “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind),” and “You’re Lookin’ at Country,” alongside hidden gems like “There He Goes” and “The Titanic.” The album is set for release on May 30th.
“I remember watching an interview once when Memaw was asked, ‘How many of those songs are about your husband, Doolittle?’” She said, “All of ‘em,” to which the interviewer asked if Papaw ever got mad. She said, ‘Oh no, honey, he just laughed all the way to the bank,’” recalls Tayla.
Rising country duo SmithField has just released their latest single, “Heaven Has A Grand Ole Opry”, a nostalgic, heartfelt tribute to the legends who shaped country music. From Hank and Patsy to Johnny and June, the song paints a vivid picture of a heavenly Opry stage where the greats are still playing to a full house. With rich storytelling, soaring harmonies, and a sound that feels both timeless and fresh, Smithfield delivers one of their most moving performances yet.
From the first note, “Heaven Has A Grand Ole Opry” stands out. The lyrics are steeped in reverence and imagery, while Jennifer and Trey’s signature harmonies bring a warmth and sincerity that’s impossible to ignore. Whether you’ve grown up with the Grand Ole Opry or are new to the genre, this track is sure to stir your soul—a touching homage and a classic in the making.
