Liverpool street 'shut down' as 'music video filmed' – Liverpool Echo

A Liverpool street was “shut down” yesterday afternoon as three musicians arrived in the area. Footage was shared on social media yesterday from Lodge Lane in Toxteth of Giggs, Charlie Sloth and Mazza L20.
The three musicians were filming for a new music video, which according to Charlie is due to be released this summer. Merki Waters, a creator who splits his time between Liverpool and Luton, shared footage on his TikTok of them driving a white BMW down the street.
In the video, he said they were "shutting down” Lodge Lane. On his YouTube channel, he showed filming was taking place in a basketball court opposite the African Caribbean centre. Lyrics of the song include “can’t just sit back, I’m being observed”.
Charlie later posted a video on his Instagram confirming filming had taken place and promised fans the song would be a good one. He said: “We’re just leaving Liverpool.
"I’m telling you, we just shut down the whole city. I've got the biggest record of the summer, probably the biggest record of the year. (We) just shot the video in Liverpool. Guess who’s on the record? Guess in the comments below. I promise you it’s a summer anthem.
“You've never heard me say that. Ever. I'm telling you, the biggest record of the year straight banger, just shut down Liverpool. Can’t wait for you to say it. Flames.”
Charlie Sloth, real name Ian Rouillon, is a DJ and producer from London and rose to fame through creating his Fire in the Booth freestyle brand.
He also hosted the daily drivetime show on BBC Radio 1Xtra from September 2012 until November 2017. Charlie has said previously he is a “massive Liverpool fan”.
Giggs, real name Nathaniel Thompson, also hails from the capital. His fourth album, Landlord, reached number two on the UK album charts.
Malcolm Graham is a drill rapper who goes by the name of Mazza L20. He released his Concrete Jungle Mixtape in 2023, which was in the official UK charts for 10 weeks and peaked at number 18.
He released a song in 2023 called 'Murderside' which gloats about gun crime and terrorising "rats" – police informants. The song's music video, illegally shot while Graham was in prison, has been shared extensively on the internet fuelled by social media platform TikTok.
TikTok told the ECHO at the time that the content posted from prison that promotes criminal activities goes against its community guidelines.
Graham, from Bootle, was originally jailed in 2016 after detectives found footage on his iPhone which showed him test-firing the Russian-made Baikal automatic pistol used to execute Kevin Wilson. Mr Wilson, 17, died after he was shot in the back on the corner of Holmes Street, Wavertree, on February 7, 2015.
A number of people have been arrested in relation to Mr Wilson's murder but no one has been charged. There is nothing to suggest that Graham had anything to do with Mr Wilson's murder.
