Lisa and Tyla have linked up for the sweltering new music video for “When I’m With You,” their collaboration from the Blackpink singer/rapper’s debut solo album, Alter Ego.
Directed by Olivia de Camps, the “When I’m With You” clip is set during a wildly hot summer day, with Lisa and Tyla doing their best to keep cool before the sun finally goes down. The beat the heat vibes continue with a late-night pool party, plenty of dancing, a throne made of ice, and an unexpected rainstorm.
“When I’m With You” marks the first time Lisa and Tyla have collaborated on a song together, though the pair did link up last year for Rolling Stone’s “Musicians on Musicians” series. During the conversation, the pair discussed their favorite foods, fame, pre-show routines, acting, and the sometimes long, winding process of making an album.
At the time, Lisa was still working on Alter Ego, and she acknowledged the pressure of prepping her first solo record after the massive success of Blackpink. “I try to have fun as much as I can,” she said. “This moment is going to go super fast. I’m trying to have fun, and I’m learning by taking risks. I feel like, with the group, you’ve got your girls and they’re super supportive. When you have something, you ask them, they give you the best advice. But me working alone is like, ‘Oh.’ … ‘Is it the right decision or not?’ ‘Oh, my God, what should I do?’ That’s why I’m taking risks. ‘I feel this, I’m going to do this.’ I just have to trust my gut.”
