Janet Jackson to receive Icon Award at 2025 American Music Awards – Music-News.com

Janet Jackson is to be honoured with the Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) later this month.
The Together Again singer will be awarded the honorary prize in recognition of the „undeniable cultural and global influence“ she has had on the music industry.
„With sales of over 180 million records worldwide, Janet Jackson stands as one of the best-selling artists of all time with a string of hits that have left an indelible impression on pop culture,“ a producer praised. „She is the record holder for the biggest-selling debut tour in history and is the first woman to debut in the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart.“
The 11-time AMA-winner will also take to the stage at the prizegiving on 26 May, marking her first TV performance since 2018.
Taking to Instagram following the news, Janet expressed her delight over the accolade.
„Thank you so much, AMAs!! It’s an honor. We look forward to being on your stage again. See you in Vegas!“ the 58-year-old wrote.
Previous winners of the Icon Award include Rihanna and Lionel Richie.
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, the 2025 AMAs will be held at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Las Vegas.
Kendrick Lamar leads this year’s nominees with 10 nods, followed closely by Post Malone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey.
Fan voting is now open and will run until 15 May.
Most recently, Janet has been preparing for another leg of her Las Vegas residency, which is due to kick off on 21 May.
