green star Unleash Debut EP ‘Bleeding Swirls’ – clashmusic.com

Emerging three-piece green star have shared their debut EP ‘Bleeding Swirls’ in full.
The group have an international span, with each member hailing from a different country. Meeting in London, green star – Lilah Bobak from Los Angeles, Pedro Soler from Mallorca and Alberto De Torre from Madrid – quickly enmeshed themselves in the city’s underground music scene, playing vital venues and warehouse shows alike.
Recently packing out the vital Brixton Windmill in South London, green star will hit the Social in Central London tomorrow (May 7th).
The band’s debut EP ‘Bleeding Swirls’ is out now, a glorious feast of noise pop that recalls everyone from the avant rock crunch of Sonic Youth through to the shoegaze omniscience of my bloody valentine, or the curious minimalism of the Feelies.
Steadily bringing their vision into focus, there’s a pop core to green star, something epitomised by standout song ‘spiders without eyes’ – the title may be imposing, but the billowing beauty recalls Galaxie 500 or even aspects of Slowdive’s 21st century work.
green star comment…
Musically, it’s stripped down and a bit hypnotic, a bit rough around the edges, but honest. The chorus — “You can stay, but never go away” — is that tension point. Like wanting distance, but not being ready to let go. That’s the heart of the song, really.
