Katarsis is the last act performed on the Third day of rehearsals in Basel. The Lithuanian act are performing “Tavo akys“.
“Tavo akys” was written by the lead singer from Katarsis, Lukas Radzevičius.
Katarsis will perform in the Second Semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 15th of May.
Katarsis is an experimental rock band from Lithuania featuring Lukas Radzevičius on vocals, Alanas Brasas on guitar, Jokūbas Andriulis on drums, and Emilija Kandratavičiūtė on bass. Their sound blends alternative rock, post-punk, and indie, delving into themes of liberation and pain.
The band achieved victory in Lithuania’s Eurovision pre-selection show, EUROVIZIJA.LT, triumphing over competitors Liepa and Lion Ceccah. Ultimately, it was the public vote that sent them to Basel to wave the Lithuanian flag on their way to Eurovision.
Fans of the winning Eurovizija performance will be pleased to know that much of the staging remains the same—the blue costumes, desolate landscape, exploding house, and flying rocks during the final TAVOS are all intact. The main difference is that the graphics now come on a larger scale, thanks to the LED floor, making the visuals even more immersive and impactful.
The performers are slightly more spread out than at the national final, with Lukas moving to the frame stage alongside guitarists Alanas and Emilija in the second verse. Although various new camera angles and wide shots have been introduced, the overall flow of the performance remains largely unchanged. The Basel stage benefits from enhanced lighting and effects; for instance, there’s a striking close-up of Lukas’s face partly shrouded in shadow, and dynamic shots of him contending with a wind machine. The climax features descending lego lights that form a wing-like effect, culminating in a burst of white strobes during the final TAVOS, elevating an already great performance.
Lithuania’s second rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 8. Further details on their final staging are expected.
Photos from today’s rehearsal will be added as soon as they are available.
