Basel is dressed to impress as it gets ready to welcome the participants of the 69th Eurovision Song Contest for one of the most glamorous moments of the season – the Turquoise Carpet Ceremony!
This highly anticipated event, which serves as the official Opening Ceremony, marks the beginning of Eurovision week and kicks off the final countdown to the Grand Final in true style.
This year’s Opening Ceremony promises to deliver a spectacular celebration, with the Swiss hosts pulling out all the stops. In addition to the Turquoise Carpet, fans can look forward to an elaborate parade through the streets of Basel, showcasing the festive spirit of the city.
The event is set to begin at 14:00 CET outside Basel’s City Hall, where Conradin Cramer, President of the Basel Government, along with representatives of Swiss public broadcaster SRG SSR and the EBU, will greet each of the participating delegations one by one.
The Turquoise Carpet will launch from the Marktplatz, Basel’s central square located directly in front of City Hall, and stretch approximately 1.3 kilometers through the heart of the Old Town, all the way to the Eurovision Village.
This year’s goal? To offer a one-of-a-kind open-air spectacle for fans, press, and delegations alike — turning the historic center of Basel into a Eurovision catwalk.
The entire parade will be broadcast live on the official Eurovision YouTube channel, giving fans around the world the chance to see the artists of Eurovision 2025 dressed to the nines, ready to step into one of the most important weeks of their lives.
