HACKENSACK, N.J., May 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Calling all vocalists, guitarists, trumpet players, duos, and street-performing stars of tomorrow: Downtown Hackensack wants you to help bring the city’s cultural heartbeat to life.
Downtown Hackensack Main Street Business Alliance (MSBA) is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new „Music on Main“ Busking program – a grassroots-style initiative that invites local musicians to perform live along Main Street starting this June.
No tickets. No big stage. Just raw, local talent and spontaneous performances filling the sidewalks with rhythm, soul, and spirit.
Music on Main is part of MSBA’s ongoing mission to energize the city’s cultural life while supporting local artists and businesses alike. Performers will include amateur and semi-professional artists from Hackensack and surrounding areas, with acts ranging from acoustic guitarists and vocalists to jazz instrumentalists and more.
Busking begins in June and will follow this vibrant weekly schedule:

Performances will take place at curated spots along Main Street – including plazas and café-adjacent sidewalks – chosen by MSBA for maximum visibility, safety, and impact.
Interested performers can apply now at: https://downtownhackensack.org/music-on-main-busking-program/. Acts must be family-friendly, appropriate for public space, and showcase the artistry and diversity of our community. Approved performers will receive designated locations and promotional support.
