DJ Haram has laid out plans for debut album ‘Beside Myself’.
The multi-faceted electronic figure is a sought-after DJ and producer, as well as being a distinctive vocalist. DJ Haram was brought up in Philadelphia, but is deeply in touch with her Middle Eastern heritage, layering these rhythms and tones across her awareness of club culture.
Operating as one-half of 700 Bliss with moor mother, DJ Haram has collaborated with a number of cutting edge voices in North American music and beyond.
Debut solo album ‘Beside Myself’ lands on July 18th through Hyperdub, with DJ Haram building her sound from Middle Eastern percussion and tonal instruments, blending this with incisive, future-facing electronics.
Deeply collaborative in tone, the incoming album features guests such as MC’s Armand Hammer (billy woods + ELUCID), Bbymutha, SHA RAY, her 700 Bliss partner Moor Mother, and Dakn, through to co-producers like underground rap god August Fanon, Egyptian producer El Kontessa, Jersey Club producer Kay Drizz, in addition to musicians like trumpeter Aquiles Navarro, and guitarist Abdul Hakim Bilal.
For such a collaborative record the launchpad is strictly DJ Haram in solo guise – ‘Voyeur’ is an explosive feast of melodic daring.
