DEXCORE released their second album WE WERE HERE digitally on May 7. The album was originally due to release on April 23, but due to production issues, the release, both digitally and physically, was postponed.
To coincide with the album’s digital release, the band revealed the music video for the 10th song, Trace. Throughout, the visibly concerned, suited-up band members sense an unknown presence watching them under surveillance. Meanwhile, the song effortlessly combines lighter and heavier moments.
Sparkly sound effects and ethereal synths blend in with the rumbling instrumentation. The cherry on top is vocalist kagami’s combination of cleans and screams, making the song Trace another fantastic addition to their discography and music video collection.
As the narrative progresses, a translucent figure keeps a close watch of the band through a CCTV system. We even see kagami clenching his chest mid-performance and falling to the ground before waking up, tied up by the wrists. There are screen-shaking slams, CRT scan lines, foggy surroundings, and cool lighting work. The music video delivers on all fronts.
The physical regular edition of WE WERE HERE hits stores on May 20, while the mail order only limited edition, titled WE WERE HERE -EXTRA-, is out on June 30. This edition includes an acoustic version of the song Still alive, and a DVD featuring their eight-song performance at DEX FEST -2024-, DEXCORE’s own festival, on March 30, 2024 at Nagoya Diamond Hall. It also contains a 36-page booklet with Japanese translation of the English lyrics and a 36-page booklet sized photobook.
DEXCORE’s suited and booted artist photos give a classy but intense feel.
