Following the continued success of the Music Pop-Up initiative, Destination Stratford is expanding the program into summer and fall 2025 as part of a new Stratford After Dark campaign. The community initiative provides funding opportunities for local businesses, organizations and musicians to create music or spoken word experiences.
The first Music Pop-Up Program was initiated in 2023 to align with the Lights On Stratford Winter Festival of Lights and expanded last year to include more of the winter season to encourage, support and fund additional musical cultural events around the city.
Destination Stratford invites applicants to embrace boldness, creativity, and out-of-the-box thinking to deliver unforgettable evening music performances for both visitors and locals during the summer and fall of 2025. These events will be a key part of the upcoming Stratford After Dark campaign.
Businesses and organizations can apply for funding of $250, $500 or $1,000 each for their music experience to take place during summer and fall 2025.
“As part of a broader Stratford After Dark campaign, we can play an important role with developing and promoting our community’s rapidly growing music and nightlife scene,” says Zac Gribble, Executive Director of Destination Stratford. “The Music Pop-Up program creates new collaborative opportunities for local musicians and venues that in turn bolsters Stratford’s incredible year-round cultural vibrancy.”
Applicants are encouraged to explore new and creative ideas that help raise the profile of Stratford’s cultural nightlife.
Megan Jones from The Starlight had this to say about their 2023 fund participation: “The Music Pop-Up Fund allowed us at The Starlight to add an additional music evening to our winter programming to align with the opening of Lights On Stratford. As a small venue that focuses on showcasing local musicians, this funding allowed us to support a local musician, build our reputation as a musical venue in Stratford and provide our patrons with an exciting evening of music. Supporting live music and live music venues in Stratford is a great way to keep the arts alive in this vibrant city while supporting local businesses to do so.”
The Summer & Fall Music Pop-Up Program applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025. Maximum 1 application per business/organization. Collaborations are encouraged. Stratford After Dark Music Pop-Up Application
