Charli XCX was the big winner at the BRIT Awards, taking home five prizes.
The British superstar won the coveted Album of the Year award for Brat, and also won Song of the Year for her duet with Billie Eilish, Guess. She also won Best Dance Act, Artist of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.
Speaking on stage after winning the big Album of the Year prize, she said: „I’ve always felt like an outsider… particularly in the British music industry.“
The star spent many years as a songwriter for others and moved to the U.S. before finding true recognition.
„So it feels really nice to be recognised on this album, when I haven’t made any sacrifices,“ she added.
Elsewhere, Chappell Roan was named top international artist and won Best International Song. Stormzy also won the Best Hip-Hop/Grime/Rap Act, while Ezra Collective and Fontaines D.C. won the respective British and International Group awards. Former Little Mix Star JADE also notably beat Charli to Best Pop Act, while Sabrina Carpenter performed and won the Global Success award.
The 2024 BRIT Awards were hosted by Jack Whitehall at London’s 02 Arena. The night also included a tribute to the late Liam Payne.
