Bruce Springsteen’s Unreleased Film Soundtrack For A Movie That Was Never Made Is Previewed Today With Title Track 'Faithless' – Bruce Springsteen

11-Song ‘Faithless’ Record Arrives June 27, As One Of 7 Never-Heard Full-Lengths On ‘Tracks II: The Lost Albums’ (Sony Music)
Bruce Springsteen’s “Faithless” — a long-lost film soundtrack to a movie that was never made — will be released in full on “Tracks II: The Lost Albums,” coming June 27 via Sony Music. A meditation on purpose, belief and acceptance — intended to accompany a film described as a “spiritual Western” — Springsteen recorded much of “Faithless” between the conclusion of the “Devils & Dust” tour in November 2005 and the release of “We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions” in April 2006. Throughout the collection’s 11 songs — including four pieces of instrumental music, written as interstitial pieces for the film — “Faithless” explores Springsteen’s unique vision of spirituality in the mythic American West, while working inside of this uncharted artistic medium.
“This was a really unusual collection of songs,” Springsteen remembers. With all of “Faithless” composed before a single frame of the film was shot — over a prolific two weeks in Florida — he explains of the results: “You could recognize details and maybe a character or two. But for the most part, I just wrote atmospheric music that I thought would fit.” The album was recorded primarily as a solo pursuit, with appearances throughout by producer Ron Aniello, touring members of The E Street Band — Soozie Tyrell, Lisa Lowell, Curtis King, Jr., Michelle Moore and Ada Dyer — as well as contributions from Patti Scialfa, Evan Springsteen and Sam Springsteen.

“Faithless” is the third song to be shared from “Tracks II” following “Rain in the River” from the lost album “Perfect World” and “Blind Spot” from “Streets of Philadelphia Sessions.” In addition to those three collections, “Tracks II: The Lost Albums” will include Springsteen’s never-heard full-length records “Somewhere North of Nashville,” “Inyo,” “Twilight Hours” and “LA Garage Sessions ’83.” The set will arrive in limited-edition nine LP, seven CD and digital formats — including distinctive packaging for each previously-unreleased record and a 100-page cloth-bound, hardcover book featuring rare archival photos, liner notes on each lost album from essayist Erik Flannigan and a personal introduction on the project from Springsteen himself.
Pre-order “Tracks II: The Lost Albums.”
