A fantastic new arrangement of Borodin’s ‚Second Symphony in B minor‘ has been released for bands and audiences to enjoy.

Harold Burgmayer has provided this scintillating setting of Alexander Borodin’s ‚Second Symphony in B minor‘, which originally dates back to 1869 when the Russian compsoer was also working on his opera ‚Prince Igor‘.
Flavours of that exotic work have spilled into this brilliant sonata movement. Borodin seldom quoted Russian folk tunes, but his graceful melodic lines are permeated with the spirit of his native song, supported by iridescent harmonies and bright colours.
This arrangement was premiered by The Salvation Army’s New York Staff Band, with Ronald Waiksnoris conducting, at Alice Tully Hall in New York City in 2001.
This complete transcription of the Finale has an approximate duration of 6.40 minutes, although an optional cut is provided which reduces the work.
