Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour may have hit too closely on the heels of her career-spanning Renaissance tour, leading to some incredibly low ticket prices. Concertgoers have been roasting the low demand for her upcoming shows online, with one user on X pointed to resale tickets hitting $20 on SeatGeek. Earlier, DMN reported prices hitting bottom at $25, though that floor keeps sinking.
One fan pointed out that some seats were going for $27, but prices had since gone back up to $37. Many noted the high number of available tickets only days before opening night. But fans of the hitmaker were quick to remind the naysayers that Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour didn’t sell out immediately either. That excursion went on to become the highest-grossing tour by a Black artist in history.
“Wait till the tour starts, once those clips start dropping, people will be flocking to get tickets, I know it,” insisted one fan.
Some critics are blaming the less than stellar ticket sales on the tour’s country theme, but the bigger issue seems to be how recently the superstar went on tour with her biggest hits. Most die-hard Beyoncé fans snagged Renaissance tickets and may not have the available funds for another major tour.
The Cowboy Carter tour kicks off tonight (April 28) at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, with five shows slated at the venue before heading to Chicago, New York, Houston, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Washington, D.C., London, and Paris.
While some tickets, especially in the nosebleeds, are hitting record low prices, fans looking for seats up close to the action can still expect to pay hundreds of dollars. The prices contrast the massive mark-up that ‘superfans’ paid during the exclusive pre-sale for the tour earlier this year. Ticketmaster said demand during that pre-sale was up 800%, with some fans starting GoFundMe money pools to afford their tickets.
