Maroon 5 are back with a brand new song, and frontman Adam Levine is sharing more about the writing process, including his wife’s connection to the track.
Speaking to People on Monday (May 12), Levine explained how his band’s new single "PRICELESS" is a "really fun" track that "felt good" from the start, adding that his wife, Behati Prinsloo, was an inspiration for the song. The couple have been married since 2014 and share three children together, daughters Dusty Rose, 8, and Gia Grace, 7, as well as a son born in 2023.
"It was the first song that I wrote for the album," he said. "It’s just this really fun, Summery, chill vibe song that always felt really good. The song kind of, you know, being about my wife, was the first song out the gates that felt good, felt positive, really positive, and fun. It’s hard to explain, but it just instantly hit me."
He hopes that translates to fans as well, adding, "I thought, well, if it instantly hit me, obviously it could hit everybody else."
Levine also gushed over collaborating with BLACKPINK star LISA on the song and how she added the "perfect" touch.
"LISA coming on the song, like, literally elevated it even more, which is amazing," he said. "And it kind of needed something extra, and she was like the perfect something extra at the perfect moment."
Maroon 5 dropped "PRICELESS" earlier this month, giving fans a look at what’s in store for their upcoming eighth studio album, a follow-up to 2021’s Jordi.
"I actually got a little emotional recording ‚cause it was sort of reconnecting to our roots, which a lot of fans have been saying ‚hey we want to hear that sound again,’" Levine said in a statement at the time. "It’s been over 20 years so I think it’s time for that to return."
