The British government announced on Monday that it would take additional measures to help businesses amid tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. The package, which includes financial support for exporters, is worth about 26 billion dollars.
The measures are meant to help the several thousand companies that are impacted by the tariffs.
The government announced on Sunday that it will reduce tariffs on a total of 89 items, including food and beverages such as pasta and juice, as well as plastics and gardening supplies, to zero until July 2027.
It said that by eliminating tariffs, the price of imported goods in the UK will be lowered, reducing the burden on a wide range of companies.
The government last week announced it would ease environmental restrictions on the auto industry in response to Trump's additional 25 percent tariffs on cars.
