Lancaster band launches new album with poignant title track – Beyond Radio

The title track of a new album by a Lancaster band tells a poignant story in tribute to a much-loved family member.
Hiroshima Twinkie have released 'A Line Survives' and will perform songs from the record at The Tap House Unsigned – supported by Beyond Radio – tonight (Wednesday May 7).
The album has been described as "11 feisty new tracks, from the anthemic and touching title track, through to a Byrds like final rock out".
"Another impressive collection of songs taking you on a journey through folk rock, west-coast rock, Neil Young inspired manic grunge reggae, a county ballad, a song about the lack of songs about Thursdays, a Wilko Johnsonesque rocker and lots more, all served with Hiroshima Twinkie's trademark vocal harmonies and quirky lyrics".

The band said the eponymous lead track was inspired by Chris Barlow from the band "holding his baby grandchild and seeing his recently deceased father-in-law's same blue eyes staring back at him".
"A moving song in praise of the life of Maurice Putman and of the features that pass down in families everywhere to make family 'lines' survive…one for you all to connect with.
"Especially poignant as Chris lost his own dad in January this year but has the same ears, nose and chin, which he has also passed on to his son and daughter…you get the idea.
"A wonderful anthemic performance from the band and check out the rather humorous but totally true comment in verse 4 that Maurice made to Chris upon asking if he could marry his daughter!"
Other songs on the album are 'Going to Hell in a Handcart', 'The Thursday Song', 'Under the Bruised Sky', 'Ironing the Creases', 'Jeez Louise', 'I Feel Your Pain', 'Dream Harbour', 'The Devil's in the Detail', 'The Chills' and 'I'll Take My Chances in the Long Grass'.
The album was released on Sunday and is available HERE.
The band will perform as part of the regular Unsigned nights at The Tap House on Gage Street in Lancaster tonight from 7.30pm.
