Music Meets Activism in a Bold New Way: Join Us for James Gordon’s “Smashing the Oligarchy and Other Fun Pre-Apocalypse Activities”
The world is at a crossroads, but who says we can’t sing our way to solutions? On June 12, 2025, join acclaimed Canadian musician and activist James Gordon at the Artbar, 37 Quebec St, upper level, for two electrifying performances at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $28, with proceeds benefiting the Guelph Climate Action Network.
This is no ordinary concert—this is a musical handbook for navigating the tumultuous waters of democracy's challenges and the climate crisis. James Gordon will use his signature storytelling to unite, inspire, and spark action in a one-of-a-kind solo show that promises to be as thought-provoking as it is entertaining. To get you ready for the show, music from the concert is available for download here!
Why This Event Matters: The climate crisis is real, and it’s urgent. Did you know that global temperatures have already risen by over 1.1°C since pre-industrial times, pushing ecosystems and communities to their limits? Even more shocking, the world loses an area of rainforest the size of a football field every six seconds.
Guelph is actively working towards becoming a net-zero carbon community by 2050 as part of the United Nations Race to Zero campaign. The city has set ambitious targets, including reducing community carbon emissions by 63 per cent against the 2018 baseline by 2030.
This event is a perfect opportunity to support local climate initiatives and be part of Guelph's journey toward sustainability!
