Wynonna Judd is Ready to Revisit the Past – EntertainmentNow

Wynonna Judd is ready to embrace the past in a big way.
The country superstar is leaning into her history with a new special and a tour that brings fans back to the era when the Judds were riding high.
Saturday May 10th and Sunday, May 11th at 8:00 p.m. ET, Lifetime will debut it’s two-part special, “The Judd Family: Truth Be Told.”
And May 23, Wynonna Judd will launch her Greatest Hits tour.
The two-night documentary “The Judd Family: Truth Be Told” unveils a song Naomi wrote that the Judds never recorded.
A sneak peek promo on YouTube features a moment from very early in the mother-daughter duo’s career.
Naomi’s husband Larry Strickland and younger daughter Ashley Judd put an old cassette tape into a player. Then you hear Naomi Judd saying, “Hello? Hello? It’s October the 24th, 1982. I’m Naomi Judd.”
“I’m Wynonna,” adds a quiet voice in the background.

Naomi then tells the recorder, “The songs that you’re about to hear were written exclusively and originally by me.”
Then an acoustic guitar begins to play and the pair sing, “Daddy, are you coming home tonight.” In the video of Ashley and Larry listening, Ashley begins to sing along.
Wynonna Judd clearly remembers the song and begins to sing along when it’s played for her in another clip.
“That’s about as pure as it ever got,” she says as the song ends. “Seriously. That’s about as pure as it will ever be.”

The red-headed legend rocked the ACM Awards May 8 with a performance of the Judds’ hit “Why Not Me.”
The ACMs posted the performance on Instagram, writing, “@wynonnajudd taking us back to the 80’s with this Country classic 🎶”
And fans were quick to celebrate the singer bringing back the classics, commenting, “Wynonna is still 🔥! What a voice!” and “👏👏 one my favorites the Judd’s growing up as young kid!! Still listening in 2025”

While Wynonna Judd has said there’s no place she’d rather be these days than on her Tennessee farm raising her 3-year-old granddaughter Kaliyah, she’s excited about her upcoming tour.
In a recent Instagram post, Wynonna put up some old pictures of her posing with fans in the 1980’s. In the caption, she writes, “Just came across a nostalgic bunch of photos from the 80’s shared within our fan club community. Now I can’t sleep! Too excited for ACM Awards this week, followed by CMA Fest next month, then the GREATEST HITS TOUR!!! Keep the momentum going, FANmily! 😘”
While her tour kicks off May 23 in Midland, Texas, her touring schedule really ramps up in June, starting with an appearance at Nashville’s famed CMA Fest June 7.
She’ll have 40 more tour stops before wrapping up on October 4 at Ocean City, Maryland’s Country Calling Festival. You can find tickets to any of her tour stops here.
