A 2024 UK Country Music Awards winner is playing at Bishop’s Stortford Acoustic Club on Thursday May 15.
Americana singer-songwriter Dave Sutherland will perform two 40-minute sets at South Mill Arts with support coming from Bill Tarran.
The London-based musician was named Male Country Singer of the Year at last year’s UK Country Music Awards.
He has shared a stage with artists such as Rumer, Slim Chance, Glenn Tilbrook, Ralph McTell, Billy Ray Cyrus, Al Stewart and Ian McClagan.
Sutherland’s latest album, Last Drop of Empty, was released to worldwide critical acclaim and produced two top-three singles. It was also voted the second best UK Americana album of 2022 by the readers of Americana UK and reached the top 25 of most-played UK roots albums across America.
Support act Tarran will put his own excellent stamp on a selection of carefully chosen songs. He has an enormous musical knowledge and has the knack of picking out cracking songs with poignant lyrics.
The club is also holding a 6 Act x 4 Song Night at the South Road venue on Thursday May 1.
The line-up features Rhys Wilson, Colin Frid, Arcadia (Sue Johnson and Richard Balarkas), Brian Harvey & Mark Gamon, Peter Crossley and Riverrats (Alex, Jon and Ryan).
Tickets for both gigs, priced £7, can be bought in advance online at southmillarts.co.uk. Alternatively, pay by cash or card on the door. Doors open at 7.30pm and music starts at 8pm.
