Christian and Gospel music fans, take note—a new museum dedicated to your favorite music is coming to downtown Nashville this Labor Day weekend. Decades in the making, The Museum of Christian & Gospel Music (The C&G) will open its doors, located conveniently near the iconic Ryman Auditorium.
The Gospel Music Association is behind this new venture, promising visitors an immersive exploration of the history and evolution of Christian and Gospel music. Executive Director Steve Gilreath expressed anticipation, stating, “The Christian Music industry has been rooted in Nashville for decades and people have dreamed of this museum for just as long. Now, right in the heart of downtown, we’re creating a space where people can touch the music that has touched us all.”
The museum intends to offer more than just static displays; interactive features, live performances, workshops, and interviews with artists are planned. The museum’s goal is to create a dynamic space that truly reflects the spirit and diversity of Christian music.
GMA President Jackie Patillo highlighted the museum’s broad scope, saying, “The GMA mission to Expose, Promote, and Celebrate the Gospel through Music is being fulfilled in this first-ever Museum of Christian & Gospel Music. Thanks to our Board of Directors, artists, and supporters, a team of experts have come together to present the many diverse styles including Gospel, CCM, Southern Gospel, Rap HipHop, and Worship, which will all be celebrated with the power of its life-changing message filling the air.”
Launching alongside the museum is The C&G’s Legacy Series, featuring renowned artist Russ Taff. A decorated figure in Christian music with 16 Dove Awards and three GMA Hall of Fame inductions, Taff will become the museum’s inaugural Artist in Residence.
While anticipation builds, we at CCM Magazine hope this new venue will also feature our 45+ year history with the genre and be a welcome home for Christian music’s alternative acts that blazed the trail we are now on.
Tickets and Founding Memberships are currently available, with discounted early bird tickets offered only through April 30. Additional commemorative items and special inaugural pricing provide unique opportunities for those wishing to be part of this significant moment in Christian music history.
