Spielmann’s ‘Over It’ Is Ludicrously Catchy – clashmusic.com

Sheffield talent Spielmann has shared his new single ‘Over It’.
The songwriter digs deep for his new single, an indie pop jewel that feels like a bedroom-crafted riposte to Springsteen bombast. Reconfiguring the American highway for a road trip across the Pennines, ‘Over It’ is a pocket-sized dose of escapism.
Grappling with the uplifting bombast of The War On The Drugs and the indie dancefloor joy of Phoenix, the song is driven forwards by the central narrative, with Spielmann pivoting between his natural misanthropic nature towards something framed by light.
He comments…
“‘Over’ It is classic Spielmann, misanthropic, nihilistic, moans about the world, writes a massive chorus about it, feels better about it all…for a bit. ‘Over It’ is a pretty big step forward from anything that’s come before for Spielmann production wise, the first time I’ve recorded anything in a proper studio, as opposed to just my attic room, giving it the big ambitious sound I’ve always intended for it. I want to make big pop bangers, and this is that…probably.’”
Out now, the fun DIY video features members of Yard Act, Lucky Iris and Fuzz Lightyear – tune in now.
