Six Partners Once Again Named to Billboard’s Elite Top Music Lawyers List – Latham & Watkins LLP

Six Latham & Watkins partners have been named to Billboard’s 2025 Top Music Lawyers list: Sy Damle, Gabe Fleet, Andy Gass, Alli Stillman, Jonathan West, and Joe Wetzel. Billboard’s annual list honors the leading legal counselors throughout the music industry. All six partners have appeared on this list for at least five consecutive years.
Billboard highlights the firm’s representation of an array of music companies, including the Digital Media Association, the North American Concert Promoters Association, the Digital Licensee Coordinator, and Live Nation in its ongoing antitrust lawsuit brought by the DOJ, and notes Latham’s significant win for Spotify against the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC) over royalty payouts for bundled music services offering, which Stillman describes as “a closely watched case by the entire digital steaming music industry.”
Latham’s practice in this area, led by the honorees above, spans the full spectrum of legal services in connection with the music industry — from transactional work such as supporting catalogue acquisitions, negotiating content licenses, and representing talent, to regulatory counseling and advocacy before federal agencies including the Copyright Royalty Board, to litigation on behalf of the leading technology companies in the world in their disputes with record labels and music publishers.
