Music Victoria presses pause on 2025 Awards – Limelight magazine

The subject of a voting fraud in 2024, this year’s Music Victoria Awards are cancelled. Talks on „a robust and sustainable long-term future“ to come.
Music Victoria has announced that it will suspend the Music Victoria Awards for 2025.
The decision comes in the wake of an announcement in November 2024 in which MV revealed that it had uncovered a “well-executed” voting fraud that affected the results of the 2024 Music Victoria Awards.
Five of the six categories open for public voting were affected by the submission of thousands of mis-registered votes that unduly influenced the winners selected for the awards presented at a ceremony in October. New winners were later announced for each category.

The decision to suspend the 2025 Music Victoria Awards is the result of “careful reflection, consultation, valuable feedback and learnings over the last 18 months.”
“This short-term action gives us the opportunity to set up the Music Victoria Awards for a robust and sustainable long-term future,” said CEO Fiona Duncan. “We need to take one step back to allow leaps forward. We look forward to collaborating closely with our community to shape this next chapter to celebrate the depths of talent we have in Victoria.”
During the hiatus, the organisation will “reassess and reimagine the Music Victoria Awards, ensuring they are reflective of and aligned with Victoria’s diverse music community while operating in a financially sustainable manner.”
