Music at the Plaza kicks off 2025 season – Elon News Network

By Abigail Hines | 5/2/25 3:32pm
Music at the Plaza returns to the downtown Elon plaza for its 2025 season at 6 p.m. on May 2. The bimonthly event brings live music and a lively crowd to the plaza every first and third Friday of the month.
Downtown development director Jill Weston is in charge of the Music at the Plaza series which was previously called Music 2 dine 2. The event first started in 2023 after the completion of the plaza in the downtown area.
The event runs throughout May and June and then returns from August to October. Weston said this schedule has proven to be a success in the past, drawing in larger crowds.
The first event of the series will feature The Fandinos, a pop-rock band based in North Carolina. According to their website, The Fandinos perform original songs as well as covers of music from the 90s and 2000s. The live music is Weston’s favorite part of the evening.
“Music brings out the best in people and it is fun, especially in Elon, to see families, seniors and students all come together for the love of music,” Weston said. “For us, the music series means summer is right around the corner and we love to see so many community members outside enjoying our beautiful plaza.”
GreenHawk Corporation is a sponsor of the event, and Weston said the partnership provides them a larger budget. GreenHawk and the town of Elon’s partnership goes beyond Music at the Plaza.
“Greenhawk is bringing three large developments to Elon that will provide housing, retail and commercial opportunities to our residents,” Weston said. “We look forward to a long partnership with GreenHawk as these developments get underway.”
GreenHawk plans to build around 1,000 new housing units in the town of Elon. Elon Town Council approved the three-part project on March 24 that includes office buildings, a hotel and a grocery store.

The Al-Aqsa Community Clinic offers medical exams, lab tests, medications and specialist referrals, all funded by donations, mosque support and partnerships with local hospitals. Founded in 2009 by Amal Khdour, who is the coordinator, the clinic was created after Khdour noticed the medical struggles of refugee families. What started as a small operation with one doctor and donated medicines quickly expanded to serve patients from across the Triad, including Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Raleigh. LabCorp donates lab services, Greensboro Imaging provides free X-rays and Cone Health contributes an electronic medical record system.
