Currently out on the road with man-of-the-moment Zach Top, country music up-and-comer Lauren Watkins was told those few very special words that every country artist waits a lifetime to hear.
Watkins released her full-length debut album The Heartbroken Record in 2024, and has since been making a very well deserved name for herself. Opening up for Top on his Cold Beer and Country Music Tour, the two have been teaming up for some killer country duets.
Yet, on their June 17 show in Indianapolis, one of those duets was followed by some incredibly exciting news.
Being called back on stage, the ‘Anybody But You’ singer was caught off guard, clearly not seeing this moment comin
“Before you go anywhere, we’ve got something very special to announce tonight,” Top said–and hey, we know he never lies. “Miss Lauren Watkins is gonna be making her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 20… you’re gonna kill it.”
With tears in her eyes, and disbelief on her face, Watkins was left a little speechless.
The Nashville native will be making her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 20–a lifelong dream and a long lasting honour. With only a month to go until the big day, we can only imagine how excited she must be.
“I’ve been waiting a long time for this exact moment and it couldn’t have been more special,” she said on her social media. With that show marking the last of Watkins’ dates on the Top tour, this was the perfect way to close that little chapter–with a much bigger one ahead of her.
“I love country music with all my heart and it is the biggest honor to get to play the Grand Ole Opry,” she captioned a handful of photos that capture that magical music moment, “I don’t know what to say.”
An Opry debut isn’t the only big news from Watkins this week, though.
This time giving the surprise to her fans, she announced on her socials that her new single ‘I’ll Get Through It’ will be released on May 30. As a follow up to the April release of the endlessly fun ‘Lose my Cool,’ this is bound to be a treat.
“Cheers to more songs in 2025” the Tennessee girl said–we sure hope so!
