Music on Maple returns for another season on Thursday, May 15.
It takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the 100 block of North Maple anchored by the post office in downtown Manteca.
The City of Manteca Recreation and Community Services event includes food trucks and other vendors, live music, a beer garden hosted by Brethren Brewery, and a cake cutting ceremony to help mark Manteca’s 107th birthday.
There is free entry. No outside alcohol permitted.
 
Swim lessons
Starting today, non-city residents can sign up for Manteca Recreation & Community Services swimming lessons as well as those that reside within the city limits.
You have the option of group or private swim lessons at Lincoln Pool located on Powers Avenue across from the fire station.
Parents are advised to register early as popular time slots during each session fill up fast.
Group lessons are offered on nine different skill levels with five programs designed for those 6 and older as well as four younger age specific programs for those nine months to three years, three to five years, four to six years, and six to 13 years.
There is also adaptive lessons for those with special needs.
There are four group sessions.
Sessions cover two week periods, Monday through Thursday for eight lessons at 40 minutes each. The cost is $75 for Manteca residents and $85 for non-residents. Lessons take place at the Lincoln Park swimming pool.
The upcoming sessions are June 2-12, June 16-26, June 30-July 10, and July 14-24.
Private one-on-one swim lessons for 9 months through adults are available at the Lincoln Park pool for $130 for residents and $140 for non-residents. They are Monday through Thursday with  40-minute lessons.
There are 10 separate weeks being offered June 2 through Aug. 6  
 Registration for upcoming sessions closes at 6 p.m. the prior Thursday of the session you want your child in.
