In this new partnership, the renowned data platform aims to incorporate Fortnite Jam Track Streams into their own data metrics, given the latter’s popularity on the platform.

Luminate, the data and analytics powerhouse behind the Billboard charts, has inked a deal with Epic Games to track streams of Fortnite’s Jam Tracks, expanding its measurement of music consumption in gaming environments.
While these streams won’t count toward Billboard chart positions, they will be factored into Luminate’s “Interactive On-Demand” data within its Connect platform, offering a deeper look into how fans engage with music in virtual spaces. Jam Tracks are playable songs used in Fortnite’s immersive modes like Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, LEGO Fortnite, and more.
The move reflects an ongoing industry shift: music and gaming are no longer siloed, but increasingly entwined. Tracks currently featured as Jam Tracks include BTS’ “Butter,” The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Metallica’s “Ride the Lightning,” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” alongside the likes of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and JENNIE’s “Mantra.”
Luminate’s own research backs the move. In its 2024 mid-year report, tracks announced for Fortnite Festival saw an average 8.7% jump in on-demand audio streams the day following the announcement. The firm’s year-end report also recorded streaming surges for Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Ice Spice, and Juice WRLD during Fortnite Remix last November—a virtual concert event that drew a record-breaking 14.3 million concurrent players.
“In today’s increasingly transmedia landscape, where technology is blurring the lines of content and fan experiences across platforms, it’s more important than ever to understand engagement and audience trends in the gaming space,” said Luminate CEO Rob Jonas.
Epic Games’ Director of Music, Talent & Influencer, Emily Levy, emphasized the value for artists: “This partnership will enable artists to unlock even more value from bringing their music to Fortnite… It gives players an authentic way to experience iconic songs through self-expression, creation, discovery and play.”
Aside from the popularity of Jam Tracks within the Fortnite platform, several musicians themselves have made guest appearances on the platform –– including the likes of Metallica, Sabrina Carpenter, Travis Scott, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ice Spice, Snoop Dogg, and a whole lot more who have been adapted as playable characters within the game. Both Carpenter and Metallica serve as the latest in-game additions, participating in the latest season of Chapter 6 of the widely recognized video game.
